'NaMo' means salute to God: Manohar Parrikar
Panaji : Facing ridicule from opposition benches he was busy singing ‘ Na Mo’ , the chief minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar today said that the term means ” namaskar ” God in the Hindu religion.
“You must not know . ‘ Na Mo’ refers to God in the Hindu religion . Means” namaskar ” God ” said Mr. Parrikar on the floor of the House during Question Time .
The prime minister was responding to teasing by Congress legislator Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco , who said Mr Parrikar was busy singing ‘ Na Mo’ – usually prime ministerial candidate of the BJP and the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is concerned. He added that there are fears that could be merged with Goa Gujarat.
“Na Mo ‘ usually ‘ Namaskar ‘ to Lord Krishna, ” said Mr. Parrikar .
” But in this context ( Lok Sabha elections ) , we’re doing namaskar end for Congress ,” he said jokingly .
The reference was made in Gujarat in the House after Mr. Lourenco wondered why candidates for the post of police sub-inspector were sent to the state for training, compared to the conventional practice of sending to Nasik ( Maharashtra ) .
