Sri Lanka hopes to send up to six players for the England cricket early season training had been altered by the movement of former coach Paul Farbrace settings to English , but their fast bowlers , however , have begun training at home with Duke balls in preparation for the two – test series in June.
Tests in England represent a unique challenge for foreign sides , most of which use Kookaburra balls in all formats . Chaminda Vaas was not memorable visits England Test career , but as fast bowling coach , has designed specific plans for consolidating the gains pace attack 2014 .
” The Duke ball does not swing much earlier, ” Vaas told The Island. “Some of the guys who could play for us as Suranga Lakmal evidence , Shaminda Eranga , Nuwan Pradeep and Dhammika Prasad have great potential and will be developed during this tour . ”
Although his tests were mediocre returns in England , Vaas has had good experience of English conditions in four seasons county largely successful Northamptonshire, Hampshire, Worcestershire and Middlesex . Their know -how can be vital to the performance of fast bowlers ‘ on tour , especially since only one attachment rotates preceding tests .
” The windows fit seamers early season and the conditions will be wet. Going to be hard for them, but I hope you enjoy the conditions and look forward to working with these guys. ”
Line and long-term nagging supplemented by moderate seam movement has been the hallmark of the new rhythm of Sri Lanka and heads Eranga Lakmal – a strategy that brought laudable dividends against Pakistan and Bangladesh this year. Vaas suggested that the attack would not stray away from that model in England.
“We’ve been working on things like accuracy, good line and length. The results are there for all to see and we have to keep improving. Suranga and Shaminda both bowl at 135 (kph) more . Need bowl at the constant rate and its variation will help . ”
Accuracy had allied with the resistance in the United Arab Emirates, where both Eranga Lakmal and deliver more than 130 overs each on three back- to-back Tests against Pakistan. The side made plans for some of cricket wear , but when Sri Lanka won a test in Dubai largely on the back of their quicks , was evidence of the strategy could lead to a resurgence of fast bowling in the national team .
” I always tell them to be patient. Bowl good balls need to take wickets. Bowling line When you keep the windows come. Gotta put the batsmen under pressure. During the series of Pakistan in the UAE many people didn ‘ t gives us many possibilities. But our seamers did the simple things well and enjoyed some success . ”
Kumar Sangakkara also have some preparation Duke -ball, after being confirmed season two games with Durham before limited -overs of Sri Lanka in England series.
