
Kishanganj , Bihar : At a rally in Kishanganj , Bihar , Rahul Gandhi made a rare direct reference to his political opponent , Narendra Modi, the Gujarat Chief Minister , who is running for prime minister.
” Modi -ji , do not try to fool India,” said the young Congress vice president , alleging that the Gujarat development model , featured as top rating of Mr. Modi for Prime Minister , is exaggerated and misleading. (India Votes 2014 : Coverage)
“For every car Nano to be built in Gujarat , the government spent Rs . 40,000 to Tatas ( manufacturers ) . This is the money of the people of Gujarat, ” Mr. Gandhi argued , repeating earlier claims that Mr. Modi sacrifice interest of the common man for big business in his home state .
Mr. Modi had also provided Rs . 10,000 million loan to Tata Motors for its Nano car project at 0.1 percent interest rupees, while the common man receives loan from banks to 12 percent interest , Gandhi said.
“For every car Nano, the Gujarat government is providing Rs . 40,000 assistance,” Gandhi said.
” The total budget of the government of Gujarat in education, health and welfare of others is less than Rs . 10,000 crore ” , he asserted
Mr. Modi as its prime ministerial candidate , BJP is expected to win the most seats in national elections ending May 12.
Results will be counted on May 16 .
Mr. Modi, 64, has been courting voters with the promise of India outside its slowest economic growth in a decade and pointing to his history of cutting red tape and attracting investment in its four terms as Prime Minister of Gujarat.
Mr. Gandhi is leading the campaign of Congress is grappling with the predictions of one of the worst performances – never match.
“I give candy to Re 1, but Modi gave 44,000 acres of land at Rs. 1 meter,” he said recently. “This is not a model of Gujarat, this is a model of toffee ” he said.
At rallies recently, Mr. Gandhi has despised the development of Gujarat as a ” toffee model ” of economic progress.
Today, he told voters in Bihar should not be fooled by talk Gujarat model .
“In Bihar, Bihar model is needed … it will work here . No shortage of a model here . What you need is a government that will help you implement it.
