Andrew Hudson, convener of selectors South Africa, said Jacques Kallis will be a part of the squad for the ODIs against Sri Lanka in July. In an interview to an Indian newspaper , Hudson said the series could be an opportunity for Kallis to make a claim for Team World Cup 2015 , a goal the multifaceted had expressed when he retired from Test cricket year past .
Kallis not played an ODI between February 2012 and November 2013 , but returned to form in the home series against Pakistan and India. He also promised to play more games in the format to remain in the team’s plans for the World Cup .
” Look, from the perspective of a selector , Kallis is not a certainty. We’d love to see it done first and then go party . We have about 25 ODIs between now and the World Cup , so not be opportunities, ” Hudson told the Telegraph. ” Kallis will be there [ Sri Lanka ] . After Sri Lanka , will be traveling to Zimbabwe. ”
Hudson also added . ” . Kallis no player regular cricket and , whatever the format, brings balance to Team batting terrain is quite unusual in today’s game is in our scheme of things , but will have to prove that he is still good enough and that is what he wants to play internationally. ”
South Africa tour of Sri Lanka comprises three ODIs and two tests, apart from a scrimmage , and also be the first destination for the new side test captain after Graeme Smith ‘s retirement in March this year. After Sri Lanka , South Africa, travel to Zimbabwe for one test and three ODIs followed by a series of three against the hosts and Australia .
