
Saleem Malik , the former Pakistan captain , met with PCB Chairman Najam Sethi to ask the board to review lifetime ban . Malik received a life ban in 2000 by the PCB after an independent investigation into the match-fixing scandal .
” The president met with Malik PCB hear appeal and review its case ” a board spokesman told ESPNcricinfo . ” He approached us and offered his services to cricket and requested the President to reconsider its ban as he claimed that a court had lifted the lifetime ban . ”
In 2000, Malik became the first player to be banned from all forms of cricket after Justice Qayyum report him guilty . Malik ‘s appeal against the ban in 2001 was rejected by the High Court of Lahore , but seven years later another court lifted the ban .
At that time, Malik expressed interest in training and also said the PCB had offered him the role of head coach of the National Cricket Academy . The news of his apparent appointment drew the attention of the International Criminal Court , seeking an explanation of the Pakistan board . However, the PCB refused the offer.
Malik then applied for the post of batting coach of the national team in October 2012 , but was not considered .
Malik last played international cricket in June 1999 . Played 103 Tests , captaining in 12 tests in 1994-95 , winning seven . He is also one of four players Pakistan have played over a hundred tests, and also appear in 283 ODIs .
