IPL 2014 : Bulk matches to be played in India , no decision on the offshore location , Said BCCI
New Delhi : With the dates of the general elections finalized, Indian Premier League chairman Ranjib Biswal said Wednesday from 60 to 70 games per hundred in the seventh edition of the Twenty20 tournament will be held in India.
The decision to host ” loose games ” in India was taken after a meeting of the BCCI bigwigs , including its president N Srinivasan, vice -president Rajeev Shukla , secretary Sanjay Patel, IPL CEO Sundar Biswal and Raman a city hotel here .
Biswal insisted that since IPL is a national event , their main objective is to lead the majority of the matches of India. ” Now that the election dates have been finalized , we are working on hosting bulk matches in India. Since it is the Indian Premier League, we welcome as many matches in India ,” said Biswal reporters after the output of a meeting of the Board of Directors of IPL in a hotel in the city here .
“Today , we discussed on foreign websites , but we have not decided that we need a few more days to finalize the place at sea ,” he said.
The electoral commission announced Wednesday the dates of the 16th Lok Sabha polls , which will take place in nine days of April 7 to May 12, the largest number of phases so far. The counting of votes in all 543 constituencies in the Lok Sabha involving 81.4 crore voters will be on May 16
According to BCCI sources , the Twenty20 event – whose window was held from April 9 to June 3 – will be moved to India after the counting of votes . “After 16 May 7 IPL matches will take place in India. But South Africa as an alternative site has effectively disappeared from South Africa for hosting the whole tournament ,” said a source.
Apart from South Africa, United Arab Emirates ( UAE) and Bangladesh are the other countries that are competing to host part of the IPL 7 .
