Bolpur, West Bengal: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has said he does not believe that Narendra Modi is a good candidate for prime minister.
“My reaction on Modi, is well known. I do not think it is a good candidate for prime minister. Obviously, he is very popular in some sections. He is very popular among the business community. That’s not to say he’s my favorite candidate, “said Mr. Sen told reporters at Bolpur in West Bengal when asked about his opinion on the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP.
“So I would like someone who is more secular and minority communities like Christians and Muslims do not feel threatened by him. That has to be one of the characteristics of the leader of the nation,” he said.
Mr. Sen was in Bolpur to vote.
