
New Delhi: Voting is underway in 89 constituencies in seven states and two union territories in the seventh round of the nine phases of Lok Sabha elections today. ( Round 7 polls : Top 10 facts)
While most of the states witnessed a number of moderate voters until 3 pm , West Bengal, where 72.7 percent of registered voters was presented to cast their vote , registered a relatively higher participation.
The conflict- torn state of Jammu and Kashmir , where elections are held under the perceived threat of violence , a share of 21.1 recorded for only half a day. (See also : Narendra Modi takes selfie after voting )
The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli recorded an impressive high participation rate of 61.7 percent at 1 pm, while Daman and Diu , union territory of another , recorded a turnout of only 51.7 percent then.
Among other states, Bihar registered a share of 47.5 percent , Punjab witnessed 52 percent voter turnout , Uttar Pradesh recorded 45.6 percent and the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh witnessed 60 percent . (See also : The 10 contests )
