ISLAMABAD – A meeting of the Joint Working Group of the Pakistan- India ( GTC ) on the cross -LoC Confidence Building Measures ( CBMs) will be held in New Delhi today (Tuesday) to facilitate trade across the Line of Control.
Pakistani delegation will be headed by Foreign Ministry Director- General (South Asia ) Ms. Riffat Masood , while the Indian side will be led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Secretary Rudrendra Tandon .
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Indian High Commissioner Dr TCA Raghavan, at a meeting held on January 25 , decided to hold a meeting of the Joint Working Group .
The GTC would discuss ways and means to streamline and further improve the arrangements for trade across the Line of Control.
Following the alleged discovery of some narcotics in one of the trucks from the side of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on January 15 , trade and travel across the Line of Control had been suspended . Subsequently, this was resumed.
Since the Working Group meets after an interval of a year and a half as the last meeting in July 2012 was held in Islamabad , the current status of the MFC that are in place and give their recommendations will also be examined .
