Government gets application for 'NaMo Tea Party' trademark
New Delhi: As BJP continues its initiative ‘ chai pe charcha ‘ to build support for their candidate for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, efforts are being made by some of his supporters to actually register a trademark for ‘ Namo Tea Party’.
The application for registration of ‘ Namo Tea Party ‘ as a brand has been submitted to the government by a group with the same name.
The ‘ pe Charcha Chai ‘ ( tea discussion ) campaign was first launched by the BJP to counter a joke made ​​by a Congress leader Narendra Modi ( Namo ) for the sale of tea in his early years. The trade mark application has been filed by the firm Ahmedabad Shailesh Tiwari , coordinator of the movement that “Tea Party Namo ‘ calls himself .
When contacted , Mr. Tiwari told PTI by phone that the logic behind the move for the brand ‘ Namo Tea Party ‘ is to ensure that the idea is not taken by someone else. There is no commercial motive behind the application , he added.
” The only reason is to get elected Narendra Modi as Prime Minister to propagate the development model of Gujarat ,” he said .
Mr. Tiwari said the movement ‘ Namo Tea Party is a group of professionals and was formally launched in May 2013. It is estimated that thousands of volunteers.
The trademark application was filed on February 6 under the category of ” personal and social services rendered to meet the needs of people ,” according to information available with the Controller General of Patents, Design and Trademarks .
The Patent Office under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry .
Mr. Tiwari said the BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi is mentoring the group. According to its website , ‘ Namo ( Narendra Modi ) Tea Party ” is a grassroots movement for good governance .
Mr. Modi has been Prime Minister of Gujarat since 2001.
