3rd ODI : Joe root century gives England series 2-1 victory vs West Indies series
North Sound , Antigua : A shot of girl filled century Denesh Ramdin was not enough that England wanted to defeat the West Indies by 25 points in the deciding third and final one-day international on Wednesday . Ramdin 128 , the first ODI hundred by a wicketkeeper Antilles , lifted the home side from 43 for four in pursuit of a target size of 304 when he was last with a total of 278, bowled by Tim Bresnan taking 14 runs off the first three deliveries of the 48th over .
Earlier, Joe Racine fought against considerable pain of a sore right thumb – the result of a blow inflicted by the average fast bowler Ravi Rampaul early in his sleeves – without his first hundred in this form of gambling while Jos Buttler fell short term his first ODI century to take England to 303 for six.
Racine, who was named man of the match and Buttler put on 175 for the fifth wicket after the heats was at a crossroads when Sunil Narine bowled experience Eoin Morgan to reduce England to 116 for four in the 24th over .
The spinner came for a rare punishment later in the innings, giving up 21 runs off its ninth more . “It is good to look at what our boys have done with the bat in the last ten overs , considering what happened to us in the first game ,” said the England skipper Stuart Broad.
” The overall effort is encouraging in view of the twenty world ( Bangladesh later this month) . “
West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo finished with three wickets , including two off consecutive deliveries , but Moeen Ali 55 at the top of the order was necessary to prevent a complete collapse before roots and Buttler took over.
Wicketkeeper – batsman Buttler was left in the street to try to sneak his 100th race on final as he only managed to spoon a catch to the bowler Rampaul . “England batted well and it was a much better stop ,” said a sad Congratulations .
“But we can not blame the bowlers . This is our drummers who must take responsibility for this loss. “
As in the previous two matches, top to stick again failed to fire and even the inclusion of Marlon Samuels known Antilles seemed able to stop the slide. However Ramdin played limited sleeves – over its lifetime , dominant half-century partnerships with Bravo and Darren Sammy before making the improbable task virtually alone.
Two sixes in one over James Tredwell took him to the century mark, but just when it seemed England were the point of self-destruct under pressure , Bresnan yorker produces the perfect ending effort Ramdin and sealing the match and the series victory.
