Once at Infosys, now in politics: Nandan Nilekani and V Balakrishnan
Bangalore: When Bangalore helpful for national elections , your options first two men took one of the most famous icons of the city , including Infosys .
Nandan Nilekani, the technology entrepreneur and co – founder of software giant Infosys which was used by the government to implement its ambitious program of identity recognition, Bangalore South candidate running for Congress .
V Balakrishnan , former Chief Financial Officer or CFO of Infosys , announced today that the candidate from Bangalore Central Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal or AAP . ( Blog of Lee V Balakrishnan : ‘ Dinner with the Rs 20,000 Arvind Kejriwal .’)
The two men will face the old school politicians in their constituencies. Nilekani faced Ananth Kumar of the BJP , who won the seat five times . Mr. Balakrishnan Mohan PC faces BJP parliamentary holder .
Traditionally , professionals have steered clear of politics, a field often seen as corrupt and dominated by political dynasties that have promoted their own people and not from outside.
But that has been changing in recent years , in part by the AAP , which opponents and analysts puzzled when carried out with sufficient force to form the government in New Delhi in December state elections . Mr Kejriwal resigned as prime minister last month.
Congress lags heavily on opinion polls and Rahul Gandhi , who is leading the campaign, is trying to shore up the fortunes in the game by adding new faces.
Nilekani is a self-made billionaire – Forbes pegs his net worth as $ 1.3 billion or Rs 8,000 crore ($ 1 = Rs.61 ) , becoming the richest Indian 50 . He is a graduate of the elite Indian Institute of Technology and made his money in technology and wrote the best-selling book “Imagining India” . ( Nandan Nilekani version 3.0: Now a politician)
In 2010, Mr. Nilekani created the unique identity project ( UIDAI ) , which through iris scanning and fingerprints of people, hopes to bring to (120 million rupees) 1,200,000,000 Population within the scope of government.
Mr. Balakrishnan resigned from Infosys in December and joined the Aam Admi Party three weeks later
